Fighting Climate Change Through Food Waste Reduction
When food goes uneaten, the resources used to produce it go to waste as well – growing, cooling, processing, transporting, storing, cooking, and ultimately disposing of food all have an enormous greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) footprint, regardless of whether the food is actually eaten. Uneaten food in the U.S. is responsible for 4% of total U.S. GHG emissions – equivalent to the amount generated each year by nearly 60 million cars on the road.
Climate Resilience on the Pacific Coast: Framework for Collaborative Action
Climate change has already caused unprecedented wildfires and intensified natural disasters on the Pacific Coast. Through the Framework for Collaborative Action, the PCC has charted an implementation roadmap to spur new coordinated work among PCC and other regional partners to add value to climate resilience initiatives.

The PCC has announced that Food Northwest is the first industry association to join the West Coast Voluntary Agreement to Reduce Wasted Food to implement measurable action to cut food waste in half by 2030.
